This itinerary will lead to the discovery of the two oldest villages of the so-called "Grecanic Area", which is an area located at the southern end of the Aspromonte National Park and includes the "Costa dei Gelsomini" (Jasmine Coast).
Bova is part of the network called "The most beautiful villages in Italy" and is also known as the "Capital of the Greeks of Italy" because of its ancient origins, its cultural aspects and traditions that are still alive today. A guided tour through the narrow streets of the historic centre will let you know the history of this village and admire the Cathedral and other ancient churches, the interesting Museum of Paleontology and Natural Sciences of Aspromonte, reaching the remains of the Norman Castle, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire coast.

Returning to the 106 State Road towards Reggio Calabria, you will find in Melito the extraction factory of the bergamot essence. The bergamot is a precious citrus that grows only along the coast of Reggio Calabria: visiting the factory you will learn about the processes of production of this famous and important essence used as a base of perfumes.
 Moving towards Annà you can already see the majestic profile of the rocks in the shape of a hand stretched toward the sky, which is the backdrop of the ancient village of Pentedattilo, whose name means "five fingers". It’s one of the most unique and fascinating villages of Calabria, it’s called "ghost town" because now is uninhabited. It evokes rare feelings to visitors with its narrow streets, the old houses, the ruins of the castle and the churches. You will hear the story of one of the most bloody and unforgettable events of Calabria: the massacre of the Alberti of Pentedattilo which happened in this village in the seventeenth century.
The village is now concerned by a protection and enhancement programme, in fact you can visit some craft shops and the museum of rural civilization which have been made recovering some ancient and abandoned houses. There are also many cultural events which take place in Pentidattilo, especially during the summer.
